YOUNG PEOPLE GEAR UP FOR A FESTIVAL OF PUBLIC SPEAKING


Young people throughout Wales are busy preparing for the Wales YFC Festival of Public Speaking Day taking place on Saturday 23rd of March, at the Royal Welsh Agricultural Showground, Llanelwedd.


The Wales YFC Festival of Public Speaking is a chance for members to demonstrate their skills in public speaking through a variety of competitions to include; Brainstrust, After dinner speaking, Debating and Junior Reading. There will also be opportunities for members to compete in a Situations Vacant competition, that helps develop young people’s interviewing skills. To keep everyone entertained throughout the day there will also be chance for members to try their hand at Ballroom Dancing.


All competitions ran through the day will be offered through the mediums of both English and Welsh.


Elen Williams, Chairman of the Wales YFC Competitions Committee said: “A great deal of hard work goes into training young people from all corners of Wales for this final of Public Speaking. We, as a movement are extremely grateful to all the volunteers who have spent many hours working with members to ensure the Festival will once again be of an extremely high standard, providing valuable life skills to all who take part.”


Refreshments will be available throughout the day and will be provided by the members and friends of Brecknock YFC’s ‘Blas Brycheiniog’.


The Festival begins in earnest at 9.00am with some results being announced after lunch if they are ready and all other results will be announced at the end of the day at 6.00pm. A warm welcome is extended to anyone who would like to support the young people taking part in the day.
