Field Day

Field Day

The Field Day is an integral part of Wales YFC's Spring Calendar and is a day where members from YFC's across Wales come together to test their skills on ATV bikes, fencing, stock judging and health and safety regulations – without which many young people would simply not be fully aware of the importance of adequate health and safety if it were not for this event.

2012 Event

In 2012 Wales YFC held the Field Day at Brecon Market  hosted by the Brecknock, Glamorgan and Gwent Federations.

The event was sponsored by the FUW and many local business supported the event by loaning their stock and machinery for the various competitions. A number of judges and stewards also gave their time to assist with the event.

Throughout the day young people from across Wales took part in competitions which retain close links with the agricultural industry and rural skills such as the ATV challenge, fencing and stock judging. The Federation gaining the highest marks at the end of the day was the Ceredigion Federation and they were awarded The Brecon and Radnor Suckled Calf Rearing Association Shield. The Gwent Federation were in second place and the Brecknock and Radnor Federations were in third place.
