Brynle Williams Memorial Award


Aled Llyr Thomas, 25 a member of Talybont YFC, Ceredigion was the first winner of the Brynle Williams memorial Award which was awarded during a special award ceremony at the Royal Welsh Show.

Set up in memory of the late Brynle Williams, to recognise his contribution to Welsh agriculture as an AM and as an active farmer the award will celebrate the achievements of young farmers who have received support as part of the Welsh Governments Young Entrant Support Scheme.

Aled was the worthy winner of the award which recognises a young farmers innovation concept, the viability of their business plan and their contribution to the industry. Aled who is already well know in the sheep breeding circles has recently constructed a new sheep building thanks to the Young Entrant Support Scheme, which will allow him to increase his ewes from 17 to 175 over the forthcoming years.

Speaking on behalf of Wales YFC, Rhys Evans, Wales YFC Rural Affairs committee chairman states,

“Since the launch of the Young Entrants Support Scheme, it has been proven beneficial for Young Farmers across Wales to develop within the industry. We hope to see the continuation of this successful scheme which has benefited many young farmers.”
