Winter Fair Activities
15/11/2011
Wales YFC will hold a full programme of activities at the Welsh Winter Fair and for many of the Wales YFC members the lure of the Winter Fair is just as strong as that of the Royal Welsh Show.
The Wales YFC activities will kick off on the Sunday with the arrival of stock for both the best prime lamb producer competition sponsored by Dunbia and the Wales YFC NatWest Calf Rearing Competition. A full programme of competitions will then follow over the two days, FUW beef and lamb stockjudging, Randal Parker Foods carcass judging, Eiddwen Garage ATV challenge, lamb trimming and a decorate a Christmas tree sponsored by Cambrian Trees in conjunction with the Forestry Committee of the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society.
£800 will be awarded to the winner of the Wales YFC Business of the Year Competition which has seen high quality applicants with businesses entered ranging from a Agricultural Contractor to a Child minding business, to a translator and a design company. The award ceremony will take place during the Wales YFC Rural Affairs Seminar which is to take place at the Wales YFC Centre. The seminar entitled, ‘Live or Dead’ will see a panel of speakers discussing the methods that are available to farmers for selling their products and animals with an opportunity for members to ask questions at the end.
The Young Innovator Award, sponsored by Dulas and supported by CCW and the RWAS will be presented during the opening ceremony of the Winter Fair.
Members of the Wales YFC lamb Initiative will be present at the Hybu Cig Cymru stand on the Tuesday to take part in the Wales YFC Lamb Initiative Ready Steady Cook activity. The initiative is ran in partnership with Dunbia and Sainburys and gives Wales YFC members which gives them the opportunity to supply the Sainsburys stores in Wales with their lamb. The supplier of the year award for the initiative will be presented at the Wales YFC Centre on the Tuesday afternoon.
The Wales YFC Charity of Year, the Wales Air Ambulance will be officially launched on the Monday of the Winter Fair where Dylan Jones will reveal his plans to raise money for the Charity during the year.
There will also be a chance once again for the members over 18 who will be staying for both days of the Winter Fair to join us at our dance which will be held at the White Hart Pub in Builth Wells on the Monday night of the Fair; starting at 9pm.
