The winner of the Wales YFC NatWest Business Enterprise Scheme will be presented during the Royal Welsh Winter Fair.

The competition is run by Wales YFC with support from NatWest and is open to any Wales YFC past or present member, 31 year old and under who run their own business.

Eight members applied for the scheme with businesses varying from an agricultural mechanic, a solicitor, to a tree surgeon and a design company.

Speaking on behalf of the judges Andy Woodthorpe, Director of Business Banking - Rural Wales, NatWest, said:

"All of the competitors gave a very strong account of themselves. There was a fantastic standard of entries this year. It's very pleasing to see the enterprise and commitment displayed by some of the young people living in rural Wales."

The top three entrants will be awarded on Tuesday the 29th of November and these businesses include;. Roland Davies and his tree surgery business ‘Rol on Trees’ from Llanidloes, Nerys Llewelyn Jones with her ‘Agri Advisor’ Solicitor business from Carmarthenshire and Agricultural Contractor Steffan Kurtz from Fishguard.

“This is a fantastic scheme for young people living in rural Wales to gain advice on their businesses from a panel of experts. Wales YFC gave those who entered the unique chance in presenting their businesses to a panel of experts who are willing to sit down with them and give them individual advice on their business and help with financial and marketing advice. We are very grateful to Rebecca Delaney, Welsh Government, Eirwen Williams, Menter a Busnes and Andy Woodthorpe for the advice and support that they gave our members. All applicants also received a £100 towards their businesses thanks to the kind sponsorship from NatWest.” explained Marc Jones, Wales YFC rural affairs committee chairman.
