Comedian Tudur Owen turns mentor in the programme Tudur Owen: Mentor y Mudiad on Thursday, 5 January as we see him give valuable comedy coaching to members of the Welsh Young Farmers' movement.

The tutoring is in preparation for a special edition of the entertainment show Noson Lawen on S4C on Saturday evening, 7 January.

During the programme, we’ll see Tudur, who hosts his own show on S4C, offering some advice to a group of actors from Bro Ddyfi’s Young Farmers' Club, and to Sam Jones, a 21 year old young farmer from Tregaron. Tudur will be trying to help develop their skills and will challenge them to push the boundaries during their performances.

Tudur, brought up inAngleseyand now living in Felinheli, says he enjoyed mentoring the youngsters and was impressed by their ability, but conceded there was plenty of tension too.

"I tried to be honest in order for them to develop their performances, and there was a heck of a lot of pressure on them throughout the process as the filming day loomed.

"It was an emotional process and tense at times and there were some disagreements over some things. But that’s what comedy is all about – it’s something personal and I learnt a lot from them, too.

"I set Sam a challenge to have a go at stand-up comedy and for the group to try a completely different style to the usual. I taught them how to relax on stage and how to pause and wait for laughter."

We'll see the results of the tough coaching as the group from Bro Ddyfi and Sam Jones take to the stage on Saturday, 7 January when Mari Lovgreen presents a Noson Lawen starring talented members from the Wales Young Farmers' Club.

Among the musical guests will be pop group Fushanti, Luke McCall from Bala and Catrin Raymond from the Fishguard Young Farmers' Club. There will also be performances from Aron Dafydd Steffan from Lampeter and sisters Enlli and Alaw Lloyd Pugh from Botwnnog, as well as the Uwchaled Young Farmers' Choir and the Llanfynydd Ensemble.
