Community and Envrironment Challenge

10/01/2012

Wales YFC are encouraging a number of YFCs across Wales, who undertake valuable work in their local environments and communities, to enter their projects in a worthwhile revamped competition which will give clubs the opportunity of wining up to £800 for their club.

The Community and Environment Challenge, supported by the Countryside Council for Wales, rewards clubs for their efforts to enhance local environments and communities.

Marc Jones, Rural Affairs committee chairman states, “Clubs can enter their project in a choice of two categories, one category is for themed projects and in 2012 the theme will be waste and the other category is for other projects that incorporate at least two from the following aspects – countryside, community, environment and heritage. The overall wining club will receive £800 and the two runners up, one from each category will receive £400.”

Speaking on behalf of the Countryside Council for Wales, Alun Davies said;

“We have been very impressed with the previous work that has been undertaken by YFCs across Wales through this scheme. I encourage clubs of all sizes to apply for this revamped scheme, to enjoy seeing their ideas bear fruit and becoming worthwhile projects that can make a real difference to their local communities”.

Clubs have until the 27th of April 2012 to contact Kay Lewis, the Rural Development Officer at Wales YFC to discuss their projects and enter the scheme.
