FEAST OF ENTERTAINMENT IN NEWTOWN


Young people representing YFC clubs from all over Wales gave audiences a spectacular showcase of YFC talent during the Wales YFC Entertainment Feast weekend which hosted both the English and Welsh Entertainment competition held at The Hafren, Newtown over the weekend.


The event gave members the opportunity to perform on a professional stage with up to date facilities with assistance from experienced stage managers.


13 clubs representing 10 different county federations throughout Wales took part in the weekend, six in the Welsh competition and six in the English competition and each one eager to clinch trophies for their trophy cabinet.


Judge Bev Clark awarded Guilsfield YFC, Montgomery and their Entertainment entitled ‘Commotion in the Ocean’ the EGH Trumper Trophy for the best English Entertainment staged. Nick Rees from Maendy YFC, Glamorgan was awarded the best actor title in the English section and Christina Thomas also from Maendy YFC, Glamorgan took the best actress title. The Paul Elkington Productions trophy for best technical achievement was awarded to Guilsfield YFC.


Steffan Harri was tasked with the difficult job of judging the Welsh section where the Bryn Teifi trophy was awarded to Felinfach YFC, Ceredigion for their Entertainment entitled ‘Y Trip ysgol Sul’. The best actor award was awarded to Carwyn Jones, Penybont YFC, Carmarthenshire and the best actress was Catrin Raymond from Fishguard YFC, Pembrokeshire. In the Welsh section the Paul Elkington Productions trophy was awarded to Bro Ddyfi YFC from Montgomery.


The best actor and actresses in the Welsh and English section were awarded with a Welsh Royal Crystal Trophies.


Also taking place at the Entertainment Feast was the Choir competition where Brecknock YFC were awarded first place with Radnor in second and Neath YFC, Galmorgan third.


Guilsfield YFC will also take to the stage in Lemington Spa with their winning Entertainment at the NFYFC Entertainment Final to be held at the beginning of May.
